Hey everyone,
Well as we all know, Dolly is here :o) I hope everyone that went to the Perth show last night had an amazing time, would love to hear some reviews and experiences that you alll had...the meet & greet pictures of course look brilliant and of course Dolly as always, looked stunning!!
Just wondering, does anyone know if Dolly will be doing any media during her visit to Australia? I havent heard of any TV appearances or such as yet?
After 30 odd years, i will finally get to see Dolly on the 25th, so close yet seems forever away.. a lifelong dream about to come true.. hope everyone has the most amazing time at the shows and can't wait to read all about them.
Have a fantastic day everyone :)

It's very exciting, and she's already received rave reviews! Go Dolly!

Yes, it is truly amazing when you realize Dolly is in town! I remember the sun just shining brightly in the window on that day here! And, every Saturday ever since for a while now! :)
Gosh! Has it been 30 years since she's been there last? I know, the 25th may seem a while's wait, but it will be here before you know it! Have fun then!! :) Enjoy! She truly is an angel!
You know, I was wondering the same. If she was doing any media or such down there. I guess she may be, to a degree. Off the record perhaps. But I'm not the expert in that. May be someone else knows more?
Hi Chris, I have actually
Hi Chris,
I have actually heard some fantastic reviews from the Perth show, so it's making me even more excited for my show now.. counting down the days :)
Hi Buttefly_girl,
It was a little under 30 years since Dolly was last here I believe, but I remember the time, i was actually unable to attend due to health stuff, but there is no keeping me away this time :) I have been a huge fan of Dolly's for over 30 years though, and its a dream come true to finally get to see Dolly on stage. Certainly a dream coming true for me.
I actually heard something about a press conference happening in Sydney today, but not seen or heard any details yet.. keep fingers crossed it will all happen soon :)
take care
Kyle

Hey Kyle, my daughter Emily
Hey Kyle, my daughter Emily (who's 10) and I went to the Perth Show! It was amazing!! I have been a HUGE Dolly fan my whole life and have never been to any of her concerts, so when I heard she was coming to Perth, we bought tickets straight away! The minute I heard her start singing, before the curtains opened, I actually got choked up!! She sounded absolutely beautiful! Then when the curtains opened, I had tears and the smile on my face and my daughters face was huge!! The whole concert was fantastic!!!! The only downside to our night were the people sitting directly behind us. Every time I tried to take a quick photo or quick bit of video with my iPhone, the lady behind me would tap me on my shoulder!! She was so rude. I have never come across anything like it. I pointed out and explained to her that everyone else was taking photos and videos (as you do, to remember the night) and it was allowed. She wouldn't hear it though. She said I was distracting her, yet I don't see how. My phone was right in front of me the whole time (so as to not distract anyone) and not up high like lots of other people were doing. Plus we had good seats and a view of Dolly on stage, so I know she could see her quite fine indeed. There were also two big screens on either side of the stage to watch Dolly on! She was that rude with what she was saying, she actually made my daughter cry! Lucky for us, the people in our row were so very nice, and a young girl who had the aisle seat (3 seats down from us) swapped seats with Emily so Emily could take as many pictures and videos as she liked. And the old couple sitting in between Emily & I, the wife kept an eye on Emily for me, and would talk to her to keep her company. They were so lovely to do that, because they too couldn't believe how rude the people behind us were. So for the last half of the show, I didn't get to sit with my daughter, but at least she got to get some pictures and videos to remember the night, which is what we wanted to do so we could show our family who couldn't make it. And I stopped getting tapped on the shoulder and stopped copping abuse from the people behind us!! That part was just awful... :( But Emily and I agreed that we wouldn't let them spoil it for us. After the concert was over and we were walking back to our car, we agreed not to let them get to us. We got to see Dolly, and she was amazing and such a beautiful person, inside and out... so we consider ourselves very lucky indeed! :)
Well, glad you gals had lots
Well, glad you gals had lots of fun despite your backseat drivers ;) The older couple and other girl must be your "unlikely angels"! :)
It was actually 30 years before she came here again, so I was told. Almost 20 years since the last time I saw her. (Saw her only once when I was with my own mom and I myself was a bit older than your little girl. Won my heart then and now.) And, wow, I remember exactly as you gals will remember. She bursts out onto the scene! Amazing lady! And, so lovely, and yes, inside and out.
Thanks Butterfly_Girl! We did
Thanks Butterfly_Girl! We did have a great time, despite our backseat drivers... ;) They really did upset us, and looking back at a few photos that Emily & I took of ourselves before the concert started, you can see this nasty lady sitting behind us, arms folded, this sour look on her face. Definitely not the happy excited looks that everyone else had, that's for sure. We never heard them clap or cheer or anything, right from the start. I just kept thinking, why come when you're going to be like that?!?! This literally was the chance of a lifetime, because she hasn't been back here in 25 years (she says it's a long way to come.... hehehe), and my daughter had literally just had to change schools due to being bullied throughout this year. So this was the thing that was going to put a huge smile on both of our faces and cheer us up!! It was just unfortunate that we got stuck behind a whole unhappy nasty family. If we had of been in a different row, that concert would've been perfect from start to finish! But then, someone else would've copped what we copped, because everyone was trying to take pictures and bits of video. So we saved other people from having to go through what we went through! Thinking about it now, it still upsets me that that happened to us. I've waited my whole life to see Dolly Parton, only to have this horrible woman continuously tapping me on my shoulder, telling me I was being rude and disrespectful by taking a few pictures!! And then to make Emily cry. She's a 10 year old little girl for goodness sakes. That why I was so happy that our 'unlikely angels' were there to help save the night. I feel sad that Emily and I didn't get to sit next to each other for the last half of the show, but at least Emily got to video her 2 favourite songs, 9 to 5 & I Will Always Love You. Plus she took a few pictures! :) Emily & I have just been trying to remember all the good stuff about that night, and desperately trying to forget the nasty lady!! We've listened to her Better Day CD over and over, which is amazing!! We read her entire program from cover to cover together. I've loved Dolly from the minute I was born. My whole family does. She literally is beautiful inside and out. I told Emily the other night, when she felt like the concert was ruined for us, that at least we got to see Dolly. A lot of people who would've loved to have gone, didn't get to, so we need to consider ourselves lucky and just feel sorry for the row behind us, who we couldn't help make happy, no matter what we did. I reminded Emily, that even after sending her to the aisle seat, after all the ranting and raving, that lady didn't even say thank you, so that's the sort of people we were dealing with. There was just no pleasing them. I'm just hoping that Dolly agrees to releasing the Better Day World Tour on DVD. Emily & I would then be able to sit and watch and re-live the night... without being tapped and grabbed on the shoulder every two minutes!! ;)xoxox

Hi cutiepie_78
I'm so sorry to hear of the people behind you that were not being so nice, but I'm really pleased to hear that you or your daughter didnt let them spoil your special night. It sounds like you had some other fantastic people in the same row as you that helped all they could. That is true "Dolly" style to help when they can and enjoy no matter what.. so glad it was a fantastic night for you.
Butterfly_girl,
Thanks so much for the link, I actually found it too and was about to post it.. so a big thank you, you beat me to it :) As always Dolly looked amazing and was in her usual fine form with her humour and quit wit, the lady is just amazing!!! :)
Maggiestokes..
It will be a fantastic show I'm sure, I hope you managed to get good seats...the wait is nearly over for us :)

Hi Kyle, Thanks so much for
Hi Kyle, Thanks so much for that! It really was an unpleasant thing to go through, and if you read my response to Butterfly_girl, you'll read more about our night. Those people in our row that helped us out, did so in true 'Dolly' style for sure. I could not thank them enough. Every now and then, since the concert, I've sat and looked at the memorabilia that we bought from the night, and I instantly remember that lady grabbing at my shoulder and just being really nasty, and it makes me feel sad that that had to happen to us. Even Emily said the other day that she felt sad that we couldn't sit together for the last half of the show and that this lady made her cry. The reason she made her cry is because I tried explaining why I wanted to take a few pictures and a bit of video (regardless of the fact that it was allowed). I was doing that because my Mum, when she was just 17, lost her leg due to Bone Cancer. She is almost 61 now, and has been on crutches ever since, and she just can't get around like she used to. Anyway, she LOVES Dolly. My Mum's American, so she grew up listening to Dolly, as did my Grand Parents. So my Mum would've loved to have gone to this concert, but it was just not possible. So we promised her we'd get some pictures and videos for her to watch. After telling all of that to this lady..... well, she laughed, then scoffed, then rolled her eyes and said 'I don't care about your mum or you or your daughter'! And that was it. Was truly horrible. That was what made Emily cry. I just reminded her that we did all we could to try and please this lady, but there was just no pleasing her. She was just that sort of person, unfortunately. Plus, by being in that row, we saved other people from having to put up with that, so just knowing that, actually makes us both feel better!! Because I seriously wouldn't wish what happened to us upon my worst enemy!!! Regardless of the row behind us, it was a FANTASTIC night! Dolly was brilliant, as I totally expected her to be. And the bit of video I did get of her opening act was so worth it. Halfway through the song, I turned my phone towards Emily (just to see the look on her face) and she was beaming with excitement and was just grinning from ear to ear!! I love watching that! I can't wait to hear all about your night! Hope it is completely brilliant. I'm sure it will be! It is 2 and a half hours of beautiful singing and story telling by an absolute legend!! Take care everyone, and from the bottom of my heart, thanks again for listening/reading. It's so nice to have caring people out there to talk to!! :) xoxoxox
