Please let Dolly alone!! We are getting a longer set and more of DOLLY!! So what if she uses tracks or what ever the hell they are called it is not like she has turned into Brittany Spears or most of the current pop folks who never sing live?

Sorry but I disagree with you all and I'm usually the first to jump to Dolly's defence. I've seen Dolly a bunch of times in concert and I know she mimes at times but I just wish she wouldn't do it. Watching some of the clips of the Knoxville concert, it looked like she was miming from the outset and it's just not good enough... not when Dolly has such an amazing voice. As for the long tour, well that's no excuse. I want to see a real live Dolly and I know many other people will as well.
Submitted by LilliyputDolly on Fri, 2011-07-29 08:45.
Well i think it would be very hard for her to sing for 2hours+ every night of the WORLD tour with no help. She is 65 after all and probably wouldn't be able for it. I would rather see dolly miming and full of life than cancel half the tour because of a throat or lung infection.

Why are you being so hard on DOLLY? All the acts we see these days on TV shows and concerts do not sing live! Dolly should not be held to some sort of crazy loft to where she can not give more at each concert and longer tours? We all know how great her voice is, but lets put anyone out there singing live for that much time and see what happens, Brittany and Christana and so on can not do it? Vince

I too was disappointed the first time I noticed Dolly lip sync in a concert. Then I realized how hard it must be for her to sing live night after night during a tour. First of all, she is so tiny. That itty bitty waist and those huge boobs, it's a wonder she can talk much less sing. I don't think her lungs could handle singing for 2hrs every night. Plus, she is 65 and has so many songs to remember, even with a teleprompter. She wants to entertain us the best she can. She truly has an amazing voice - like an angel. I love to watch her sing live on tv shows and at Dollywood. She shows her human side when she forgets a word or comes in at the wrong time. But a tour is so exhausting and she wants to give fans the whole Dolly experience. I love Dolly and wouldn't care if she came on stage and talked for 2hrs. But when she sings or lip syncs plus dances around, like she does in this tour, it's all the better. A Better Day - that is...
I agree with Whitney on this one. However, I don't agree its because of her size - LOL!! She's been singing with her lungs and little body just GREAT for years now. But its a long tour and I'd rather see HER and be in her presence which at the concerts it is special.
Submitted by dollytastic on Sat, 2011-07-30 12:47.
Dolly is a pro - she can last out 2 hours singing live I'm sure. OK maybe the odd song can be lip-synced, but the Los Angeles Times said the following: "Parton, 65, appeared to lip-sync large portions of Saturday’s 2 1/2-hour show, most noticeably when the tempo climbed above a rootsy shuffle, as in an aerobic rendition of “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & the Waves or in “Together You and I.” They even suggested that singing live was "an act now below her station" which is an awful thing to say of Dolly.
I worry that her miming makes Dolly look bad to the people who don't love her as much as many of us do. It's magical being in Dolly's presence... it's also magical being in Dolly's presence and hearing her voice live. Tina did it on her last tour... so why not Dolly.

Who cares if she lip syncs?? Did u know she had vocal trouble in her earlier days & had to get treatment?? She has to be careful w/ her vocal chords or she won't be able to sing at all!! No more cds, nothing!! She wouldn't lip sync if she didn't have to. She cares about her fans too much to intentionally hurt them regardless of what the other person on here says. We need to appreciate what she does rather than whine.
Aw come on guys. I am 3 years younger than Dolly and I can't remember where I put stuff - Dolly has to remember all her songs - and don't forget she has to remeber them to mime. I understand that she was on stage 2.5 hours at the first concert - her voice wouldn't take all that - do we want to kill her. Only those who love Dolly come to her concerts so we should understand. Give her a break folks.

I just saw Dolly do two shows in a row and she was AMAZING! She did a lot of the songs live!!!!, I am just so thankful she is willing to go on tour as most artist her age are retired! I LOVE YOU Dolly and you were beyond FANtastic in CT and VA!
First, I LOVE Dolly! I saw her this past Saturday night in Connecticut from the 2nd row and it was a pleasure. I do understand the need for her to lipsync a number of the songs to conserve her voice and breath. However, I strongly suspect she lipsynched EVERY song... even the slower songs like "Little Sparrow" and "I Will Always Love You". The change in sound from when she spoke to when she "sang" was simply too different. I must admit, she's pretty good at it, as I saw only three or so blatant mess ups (where her lips went one way and the vocals went another!) ... I hate to admit it, but I am a bit disappointed with the extent of lip synching. Still, it was great to be in the same room and listen to her humor and stories.
Miming the playing of the harmonica was simply silly and should not be included in the show.

I totally agree with TallMon. I saw her at Concord, CA and I thought it was a good show. It was still a little dissapointing that the show started 40 min late and I saw her lipsynching a lot. I also noticed that she was using at least 3 teleprompters, and she was even reading off them when she was telling her stories and jokes. For how much I payed, I wish she had sang a little more. To say something good, her outfits were AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL (so is she), and it was incredible just being in her presence.
This is an old debate and a never ending one. Certainly, the truth is between. I have seen reviews that confirm that the essential songs are live, others are mixed, also with strong support from ber backing singers. I just admire her courage. It's great to read people's opinions on this. What really comes across is our need, want and desire to protect Dolly and stand up for her. I've seen Dolly 10 times in concert and met her twice and I completely idolise the woman. I could never tire of her and I feel guilty even bring up the miming in concert.
However if I play devil's advocate for a minute, Dolly is a pro getting paid a lot of money and choosing to put herself out there and do this tour. She is without doubt a genuine Tennessee gal and that's what people expect to see when they go to see her show. But for me, being genuine and lip-syncing are at odds with one-another.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However what some fail to realize is this is a STAGE SHOW and as such is supposed to SCRIPTED and planned out. Of course she is using Teleprompters!! How else would she stay on track? I like to see some of you do a 45 stop tour at the age of 65 and NOT need some help!! Come on!! I've also heard the same jokes thousands of times but I still laugh my butt off each time and so does Dolly because she knows we've heard them!
I have been a fan for over 32 years and I have seen Dolly HUNDREDS of times and each time I am thankful. Yes I have seen the lipsynching but it hasn't detered me from going again. I understand that it is a scripted show, but she was using the teleprompters for her stories too. One would think that Dolly has told the "Coat of Many Colors" story enough times that she wouldn't need a teleprompter. Heck, she lived it! Why does she need a teleprompter for that? Don't get me wrong, I IDOLLYIZE her, and think her voice is wonderful. It just seems a little fake.

Dolly does not arrange the m&g's and if you see the photos there are more than TWO people at these events. She has no clue who are Dollyites and who aren't. I know dollyites that have won, and in fact, I won on the last tour so it does happen. If management gets wind of the complaints it wouldn't surprise me if the M&G's stopped all together. Thats right Dolly cares nothing for her fans.. She gave up and fan club the Ambassadors and lost lot of fans..So she thought i will try again and get some new fans .. Still fan club is a JOKE.. If she does not till management what do to then she should ask about the fans.. She should know her band and etc. when they come for a photo.. So she should ask where are my fans.. She tells management what to do dont think no different..I hope management gets wind of this..But of course nothing will never change..

I think she cares a little. She would be nowhere and nobody without her fans. But, as most big stars do anymore, she uses her managment to run online things for her. I read some of her tweeted "Dollyisms" and they were all sayings or lines from her autobiography. Also, did anybody notice in the old dollyite membership sale advertisement it said that "dollyites get acess to a special forum just for dollyites. You never know when Dolly might be online" (or something like that). I dont think she ever got online to do that. I think she is just a little to big of a star to be very close and personal with her fans, anymore. I wish the management did read these because i think they should know her fan's (paying fan's) opinions, good or bad.
Submitted by dollyrocks2011 on Sat, 2011-08-06 08:57.

Trust me Dolly will never be
Trust me Dolly will never be online here.. All the tweets are things we heard years ago.. Her management needs to come up with some new lines for her.. Same old stuff getting old..
You sure do like to
You sure do like to complain......fine something constructive to do instead of bashing Dolly! Why are u a fan if u actually feel this way? You sound very bitter!
Whatever.. Dolly still cares
Whatever.. Dolly still cares very little about her fans.. Oneday you all will wake up and see!!! Anybody that meets with 2 people something is wrong..But she wants us to come to concerts, buy her cds,go to Dollywood etc.. Wake up!!!!
WHY THE HELL are you A
WHY THE HELL are you A DOLLYITE?
Vincent
Hey...I know you......you are
Hey...I know you......you are the editor of 'The National Enquirer' !!
Maybe but she is not that
Maybe but she is not that important anymore for the Enquirer.
ROFLMAO!!!! This is the same
ROFLMAO!!!! This is the same complainer from the first online site! When people don't get everything they think they deserve they become very bitter and try and ruin it for everyone else! This person is not a fan just a troublemaker!
Trust me I was never on the
Trust me I was never on the over site.. I have been a fan for years.. And I thought I would try this new fan club out and pay for the fan club. BIG mistake.. This site never updates unless they want money.. I can get free info at Dollymania.net much better site. Updates everyday.. So you need to wake up and get your facts right..
Tell it like it is!! I'm so
Tell it like it is!! I'm so loving you right now! (totally cheering you on)
I I agree. A few winers
I I agree. A few winers messed it all up with Ambassadors for all of us! Be grateful we have her at all! She could walk out on stage and say nothing for all i care! To have her back in Oz is a dream! being critical is an injust assumption! Leave her alone. None of us know just how taxing her job is! Were not her! She is doing the best she can. Thats what she has always done!
*high five for your post!! I
*high five for your post!!
I completely and whole heartedly agree!! Glad to see there are at least a few people who "get it". Bless you!
Feel free to check out my blog. I just wrote about my experience during her stop in Concord, where I had the great privilege of meeting her.
BIG DOLLY LOVE!!!
Dolly doesn't care about
Dolly doesn't care about fans? I don't understand at all how can you say this...
I totally agree with you
I totally agree with you Eleyne if Dolly didn't care about her fans why would she even bother having meet and greets or have huge sheds on her property to house all the stuff people send her because she doesn't have the heart to throw it out.
Exactly. Dolly isn't like
Exactly. Dolly isn't like other stars and will not go near anyone with indifference... she always finds time for her fans. And for that I love her :)
I can say it LOUD AND
I can say it LOUD AND CLEAR!!!!!
